Page 1 of DVD Region X Help Please :o)
Gaming and Consoles Forum
Hi,
I`ve bought a DVD Region X disc for my PS2, but I am having problems loading it.
With the Region X Disc in my PS2, everytime I boot the PS2 up it displays the red message "Please Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 Format Disc".
No matter what I do I can`t get the disc to load past this message. So I
can`t even get to the bit to view my DVDID and DVDVER codes.
My PS2 has not been modified in any way. However I am using the DVD Player v2.10 from Sony, but I am NOT using the memory card (with the loaded software) nor the infared sensor-plug when trying the DVD Region X.
Please Help!
Thanks,
Shams

You need to have a memory card in the slot when booting the Region X.
Mike
yep, i`ve tried the boot with a (empty) memory card... both in slot 1, slot 2, and with controller pad in slot 1 and slot 2...
in all cases the screen goes straight to the "Please Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 Format Disc" message
??
yeah mate you need to put in your memory card because it needs a place to store the information to make it play multi regioned discs also youll need to put any periferals such as a dvd remote conrol in before you boot the region x disc up because ive tried plugging them in when ive booted up my disc and they wont recoginize
i`ve tried that but it doesn`t work... i`m using a memory card but it still goes to the "Please Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 Format Disc" message.
Has anyone else got the message "Please Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 Format Disc" when using Region X ?
check the disc if it needs a cleaning..or try it on another machine .
Hi first time posting but I almost guarantee its because you arn`t using a scart lead to connect to the TV.
TV should be NTSC compatable but you MUST use a fully connected playstation scart.
i am using a scart lead (the official sony one)... i think it`s not working because i`m using the Sony Remote Control... and the CD I loaded (which has the Remote Control software on it) updates the DVD player software... which (i`ve read online) clashes with Region X.
Still waiting for tech. support to get back to me, i`m sure there must be a way to fix it,
cheers for the help tho,
Shams
I think there may have been some code or patch made by datel for this. I`m not sure if you`ve already looked but take a look at:
http://www.dvdregionx.com/english/x_key_codes.htm
There are some upgrade codes there you can try. I`ma running region x and the sony remote and have had no problems at all.
I get the same message, when I try to DVD Region X. And I to, haven`t found a solution to this problem.
