I heard this album many years ago at school and whilst browsing CD-wow the other day saw they had it and bought it. So ,am I a sad muppet or does anyone else think it is a really good album?

It sucks.

My advice, tie some weights around your neck and go hang out at `whohasmyname`s` house.

:-)

Love ya Simon.

Remember hearing it at school aswell and really liking it!
Also remember the artwork on the LP being exceptionally good with some kind of booklet full of amazing paintings based on the story.
Don`t know what I`d think of the album these days (remember it does feature David F***ing Essex!!!)
Wish somebody would make a decent film version of this, the 50`s version`s OK, but it totally lacked the atmosphere of the book and replaced the walking machines with those sort of flying wedgey kind of things.

I have the LP (or my parents do). I think it`s fantastic, and as marty2 says the artwork is exceptional.

A supurb album that sounds especially good on a decent seperates hifi. I particularly enjoy Phil Lynott as Parson Nathanial.

Agree...they should do a film re-make using the original walking machines.

My parents had the LP, some of the artwork used to freak me out a bit when I was a kid, but I always enjoyed parts of the music.

As I grew up I enjoyed all of it, and eventually bought the double CD set. Definitely a classic!

Aren`t they supposedly re-making this as a feature film? The latest edition of "Cineworld" magazine (from the cinema of the same name) has an artivle saying as much. Apparently, it might star Tom Cruise. Woo, and indeed, hoo.

ps, anyone ever play the pc game of the same name? It was similar to command and conquer, and had some of the WOTW music too (and the voice of Nigel Hawthorne), I thought it was pretty cool.

I think this album is still a great listen.
It`s even better put through Dolby Prologic 2, with the lights out and sub on !!

Neil.
