(sorry i dont know where to post this)
Can anybody help ?
My PC keeps shutting down !! When using Word,or Outlook etc just get the message " we have encountered a problem and need to shut down " Do you want to send a report ?
Also when using internet get the message "... Line error do you wish to de-bug " ?
I cant access certain folders without the computer shutting down !!!
Have got virus scan and firewall, neither have found a problem, occassionally get the message " new tear attack encountered "
I can send and receive emails
Can you offer any advice or is it a job for the professionals. The PC is only a few months old so is still under warrenty I think.

dont know if this is of any help to someone who can help me but i cant delete a MPEG file off my computer. when i try the message windows needs to close appears !
Doesn`t sound good..
Do you use AOL? I get the de-bug message on there but just say no.
Try uninstalling and re-installing Office. Something fairly quick to try I suppose.
I presume it`s Windows XP? If so (and it`s legit..) it could be worth sending the report to M$ and seeing what happens. Think you`re allowed to do this a few times for free with each copy.
wouldn`t be surprised if you end up reinstalling though..

Backup all your documents, reinstall from scratch, only way to be sure.

Have narrowed it down to this one file at the moment.
am with bt broadband not aol.
yes it is windows xp.
Also using IMESH... get messages such as ` unspecified error` or `address violation` occassionally.
Have sent reports to microsoft now and again, I have never been contacted by them though... how does that work ??

Seriously though I`d go along with other members suggestions and save all important data and then F/disk Format and re-install XP etc.
De-bug error message would probably mean that it is simply software related and nothing too serious or expensive.
It will only cost you your own time,1 to 2 hours for F/Disk etc.
If that didn`t cure it you would be in a slightly better position if you had to get it looked at as you could eliminate the techies need to try F/Disk etc.
JMHO folks :-)
PS I`ve sent a few e-mails to Microsoft on several topics and TBH they`ve got back to me pretty quickly with advice that has helped .

Try a re-installation of windows xp as this will only overwrite the exsisting installation but correct any faults

you wouldn`t happen to have been using Morpheus preview edition by any chance - if so then i have had the same problem.
I eventually braved it and sent a report and then went to the link to see what it said and it told me it was due to a dll file called bpdoh.dll and what it told me to do was rename it bpdoh.old and it wouldn`t use it anymore.
So far been browsing all afternoon and hasn`t crashed yet.... fingers crossed, if this is what`s wrong with yours then just `find file` and it will locate it within windows for you, rename it and hopefully that will be it.
BY THE WAY the help page does state that they can`t guarantee this will work and it might bugger up your system, but so far so good on my one - running WINDOWS M.E. here.
