I have an oil fired boiler. Its heating the radiators fine but I`m getting no hot water from the taps. I have had it fixed before and the plumber was in the attic doing something. Did not see what he did but he said something about "air lock in system" if I remember?
I can`t find any bleed valves on the system anywhere, apart from the radiator ones and one on the boiler.
Can anyone give me any help to fix this myself?
This may sound daft but a mate of mine fixed his system using a Haynes workshop manual for home plumbing.
Steve..
My old man`s a plumber. he advised firstly check the ball valve in your tank, it may be stuck and that would stop you getting any water from hot taps but would allow rad`s to still work.
if its not stuck and your getting no water at all from hot taps then likely to be an air lock.
2 ways to sort it:
1: you could connect a short bit of hose from hot tap and cold tap, turn on hot tap and then turn on cold. the pressure from the cold will force out any air.
2: should be a bit of pipe coming out of top of hotwater tank (its an overflow) you need to blow down this pipe to force out any air. this is probably what the plumber did last time. you you need to first fix on a bit of rubber hose to blow down as the pipe is difficult to reach.
if none of this works, get yourself a plumber. good luck
