i really enjoyed this film, it`s great to see some fine actors literally acting their age.
while redford, connery etc. have to star in films in which we have to suspend belief while they supposedly attract women young enough to be their grandaughters, it`s good to see a couple of excellent actors as bates and nicholson not afraid to appear deeply unatractive, flabby and fairly unlikeable.

Yep, superb film .
Kathy Bates naked!!!!!!!
She wasted her time and effort with the hammer in Misery..... she should have just stood naked in front of his bed for a hour!!!! Not that`s pure horror
Seriously though, I think that Alexander Payne (also directed the superb election) is going to be up there with P.T. Anderson as one of the best new directors in hollywood.

Yep, he`s one to watch out for. It was great to see Jack `acting his age`, he`s a damned fine actor, will be a shame when that generation of great talents are finished, and all we`re left with is... well, people like the cast of Friends (ugh).
The film was so good, very low action, and very touching, the scene with the face cream had me in tears. The other thing was that normally a film like that, so real and so honest would`ve probably left me feeling quite depressed, but this film was done so well that I couldn`t help feeling happy at the end. More films like this please Hollywood!

You lot are all flippin` NUTS!! This film was turd!! The scene where Jack is looking up to the starry sky and asking for forgiveness is predictable before it even happened! A shooting star for gods sake. I mean, come on, a demented frog could do better than churn out that American tosh!
Here is a quick selection of films that are crap that everyone else likes:
2 Towers - Took too long to do too little
Spiderman - It was Spiderman!
Donny Darko - Too many plot holes and not enough plot
Harry Potter - The ultimate in bad child acting
etc etc. Just ask the elephant_stone boy who actually cried with laughter during the sex scene in Enemy at the Gates in a packed cinema with that Deano! freak whose comments about my good nature should be looked upon seriously by the moderators here.

Sorry Washu... but you need locked up mate
Donnie Darko - Best film of the last 12 months
Two Towers - Genius
Spiderman - Best Superhero film since Batman
Harry Potter - I agree wasn`t that good, but Chamber of Secrets was a vast improvement
All about opinions though I suppose??
So what have been the best 3 films of the last 12 months Washu????

Washu
You complain about plot holes, but Minority Report is choked FULL of them. Here is the major ones though (SPOILERS):
At the begining we are told that a RED ball means a crime of passion and the time in which the pre cogs pick these up is very short (a matter of an hour maybe). BUT, Anderton`s crime was a crime of passion and they knew ages before it was due to happen.
The next plot hole involves the bad guy and him setting Anderton up. What evidence did he leave to set up Anderton and lead him to Crow? (the guy he was supposed to kill). The answer is NONE, which means that Max Von Sydow must be PSYCHIC, when the film clearly shows he is not.
Back to About Schmidt, I thought it was and excellent film, and agree that Election is also an excellent film. I hope Jack Nicolson gets the Oscar (not that I really care about the Oscars though!).
