Anyone know anything about washing machines?
Before I shell out a s***load of money for a sweaty bloke in overalls to tut at the inner workings of my washer, can anyone help me?
I`ve got an Indesit washer/Dryer and lately, it`s just been popping fuses. Nothing`s changed with the machine, I haven`t altered it in any way, but whenever I turn it on, it blows the fuse in the plug
any ideas?

Don`t know if it is the same problem but I had the same thing happen on an old hotpoint machine what was causing the problem was there was a slight leak in the back of the machine and it was dripping onto the contacts of the heater element if that is no help I know machine mart sell a book on washing machine faults / repairs for a few quid if you have a branch near you pop in and see if your model is covered by the book

Could be a short in the motor, The heating element, if the fuse goes when you turn it on then ( when no cycle is selected ) it must be a short in the switch or electronics inside, Could even be water in the plug ( but I doubt it).
You need an man in overalls I think.

If it is popping fuses then it is drawing to much current, do they go straight away or does it go at a certain time,
If its at a certain time try and work out what is running, the heater as wayne said is a realy common one, or motor brushes worn, both of these will cause fuse to go after 10 seconds of running of so.
Faulty water pump if goes after 10 mins or more.
If the fuse goes straight away it could be one of the springs snapped on the drum and the broken part is resting accross one of the live terminals and then touching against the bare metal inside, very common fault. Or one of the live parts/chaffed cable touching against the metal.
Wahsing machines are pretty basic inside, if you cant work it out just un-plug each item, then plug them in one at a time and turn on, then eventualy one of the items will cause the fuse to go, and you have found your fault.
