Page 1 of VCR Copies
General Forum
Someone said recently on one of these forums (I think it was Jimbo) that Ferguson VCR`s allow copies to be made as the Macrovision signal does not cause them a problem.
Firstly, is this all Ferguson vcr`s or just some of them?
Does anyone know which ones, and if there are any other brands that allow copying?
Many thanks
Yep, `twas me who made that post! :o)
Anyways, it`s only some Fergusons..JVC`s and a few other brands that allow it, but mainly on their OLDER models!
I have a Fergy FV95 and it DOES recognise the damned Macrovision signal!
And almost ALL Panasonics ever made see it too, except some of the older "piano key" or "wired remote" models.
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
... from DVD`s, now that would be illegal wouldn`t it?
Just check the back of any video/DVD magazine for ads from which you can get a little `Bug-Buster` box. For a couple of hundred quid or so, no Macro problems tape-tape ever again :o)
Why don`t you just get a Betamax. Better quality and totally ignores macrovision. Only problem is getting hold of blank tapes.
On second thoughts, for devotees of VHS... The early piano key JVCs (the 3300 and 3600 I think) which were also sold under the Ferguson label and marketed by Thorn on the rental market ignore macrovision, which is why they are so prized by those in the know. I remember reading a thread last summer which claimed a recent LG recorder also ignored macrovision, a 21065 or something like that. The best solution is to get a dvd player that can switch off macrovision such as the Samsung 709 or the much under-rated Ariston 2000, a real workhorse which can play anything.
I thought I read in What Video that the Ferguson will record a copy of a NTSC-DVD/VHS as NTSC with the tape only playable on a VCR that can play NTSC tapes?
Got a 1978 panasonic key type ,its built like a tank and cost me a fiver, but it records anything thrown at it.
