And yes it`s still region free.

Woolworths also have the Proline 1000 for £150 but it tends to seel out a lot. Out of the two I went for the Alba and am *very* happy with it.

Yes to the Matrix. No problems with any of the extra features. I don`t know about the others or CD-rs/MP3s, someone more technically inclined will know the answer though!

I too am pretty-well delighted with the Alba (from Argos) ESPECIALLY the NTSC-PAL. However, while it happily plays all 21 of my R1 DVD`s, including Matrix (I`ve been collecting for 2 years while visiting the States, and up to now played them on my laptop), having bought Stuart LIttle (widescreen) (GREAT SERVICE from PLAY247) the disc refuses to play. It automatically selects special features from the Title Menu, won`t play *anything* from any menu, always jumping back to Title menu, and then smoothly (and unstoppably) on to Special Features. Looks fine on my PC.

Any ideas out there??

Does this player play SVCDs anyone?

Also what is the mp3 playback like? Good quality, poor?

Final thing, does it accept cd-rw media and what media (cd-r & cd-rw) does it accept/like and reject.

Thanks!

Magik
