Matrix Reloaded - SPOILERS - Don`t read if you haven`t seen it.

Watched it last night, now being harrassed by people about what might happen in the next film. Any thoughts (unless you actually know).

These are what we came up with and some questions:

1. Will the spoon have any significance? s***E, just thought, the spoon was in the matrix in the first (the spoon isn`t really there), so how can it be in Zion, unless there in another matrix construct - hence Neo zapping machines at the end, agent smith in another body etc.

2. Persephone didn`t seem to be in it enough, nor the kid wanting to join the crew.

3. Neo seems to be a program (architect suggested it), what if they all are?

4. Neo isn`t the one, trinity is (son, father, holy ghost), and the reason all other neo`s have failed is because they didn`t save her.

ouch! my heads hurting.

Ok, I was cautious going into this, because I know how hype can be bad. But JEBUS CHRIST, THAT WAS A GREAT FILM!!!

Ok, onto your points

1. I think the spoon was just a reminder, because it is obviously not the same spoon. Also, Neo didn`t "zap" the machines. This is a mistake ALL my friends thought as well. It was an EMP blast that was set off by the ship that Niobe was in, and picked them up. Hope that explains things ;-)

2. Remember, there is another sequel this year.

3. This was an interesting point, and this conversation was brilliant. I will be seeing the film again on Saturday to see if I missed anything.

4. Nah, Trinity isn`t the one, Neo is. But it will be interesting to see what happens in the next film :-)

As for the real world being inside the matrix. This is something I`ve thought could be a possibilty since the first Matrix film was released. But If that is revealed in the next Matrix, then it could destroy the legacy of the Trilogy. That kind of twist would work for a single film, not for a trilogy.

Just my humble opinion ;-)

I disagree with the answer to question 2. In the first film an EMP blast cn only be given off by a stationary ship which is using no other power. Which is why they were in a jam in the original when Neo was still in the matrix fighting agent smith. They couldnt give an EMP blast until Neo was back.

I think that just as agent smith was has been able to come out of the matrix, so Neo has started to merge the two worlds. So I believe that in the next matrix he will be able to use all of his powers which he has in the matrix in Zion.

"In the first film an EMP blast cn only be given off by a stationary ship which is using no other power"

I know, and the ship doesn`t appear until AFTER the shockwave. If what you say happens, it will take any believabilty away from The Matrix.

Did I hear someone wanted to hear the Neo/Architect conversation again?

The Architect - Hello, Neo.

Neo - Who are you?

The Architect - I am the Architect. I created the matrix. I`ve been waiting for you. You have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably human. Ergo, some of my answers you will understand, and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also irrelevant.

Neo - Why am I here?

The Architect - Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden to sedulously avoid it, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.

Neo - You haven`t answered my question.

The Architect - Quite right. Interesting. That was quicker than the others.

*The responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Others? What others? How many? Answer me!"*

The Architect - The matrix is older than you know. I prefer counting from the emergence of one integral anomaly to the emergence of the next, in which case this is the sixth version.

*Again, the responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Five versions? Three? I`ve been lied too. This is bulls***."*

Neo: There are only two possible explanations: either no one told me, or no one knows.

The Architect - Precisely. As you are undoubtedly gathering, the anomaly`s systemic, creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations.

*Once again, the responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "You can`t control me! F*ck you! I`m going to kill you! You can`t make me do anything!*

Neo - Choice. The problem is choice.

*The scene cuts to Trinity fighting an agent, and then back to the Architect`s room*

The Architect - The first matrix I designed was quite naturally perfect, it was a work of art, flawless, sublime. A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is as apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in every human being, thus I redesigned it based on your history to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature. However, I was again frustrated by failure. I have since come to understand that the answer eluded me because it required a lesser mind, or perhaps a mind less bound by the parameters of perfection. Thus, the answer was stumbled upon by another, an intuitive program, initially created to investigate certain aspects of the human psyche. If I am the father of the matrix, she would undoubtedly be its mother.

Neo - The Oracle.

The Architect - Please. As I was saying, she stumbled upon a solution whereby nearly 99.9% of all test subjects accepted the program, as long as they were given a choice, even if they were only aware of the choice at a near unconscious level. While this answer functioned, it was obviously fundamentally flawed, thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic anomaly, that if left unchecked might threaten the system itself. Ergo, those that refused the program, while a minority, if unchecked, would constitute an escalating probability of disaster.

Neo - This is about Zion.

The Architect - You are here because Zion is about to be destroyed. Its every living inhabitant terminated, its entire existence eradicated.

Neo - Bulls***.

*The responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Bulls***!"*

The Architect - Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. But, rest assured, this will be the sixth time we have destroyed it, and we have become exceedingly efficient at it.

*Scene cuts to Trinity fighting an agent, and then back to the Architects room.*

The Architect - The function of the One is now to return to the source, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program. After which you will be required to select from the matrix 23 individuals, 16 female, 7 male, to rebuild Zion. Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix, which coupled with the extermination of Zion will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race.

Neo - You won`t let it happen, you can`t. You need human beings to survive.

The Architect - There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept. However, the relevant issue is whether or not you are ready to accept the responsibility for the death of every human being in this world.

*The Architect presses a button on a pen that he is holding, and images of people from all over the matrix appear on the monitors*

The Architect - It is interesting reading your reactions. Your five predecessors were by design based on a similar predication, a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species, facilitating the function of the one. While the others experienced this in a very general way, your experience is far more specific. Vis-a-vis, love.

*Images of Trinity fighting the agent from Neo`s dream appear on the monitors*

Neo - Trinity.

The Architect - Apropos, she entered the matrix to save your life at the cost of her own.

Neo - No!

The Architect - Which brings us at last to the moment of truth, wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed, and the anomaly revealed as both beginning, and end. There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the source, and the salvation of Zion. The door to the left leads back to the matrix, to her, and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you`re going to do, don`t we? Already I can see the chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the onset of emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic, and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you from the simple, and obvious truth: she is going to die, and there is nothing that you can do to stop it.

*Neo walks to the door on his left*

The Architect - Humph. Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness.

Neo - If I were you, I would hope that we don`t meet again.

The Architect - We won`t.

The guy who`s body has been taken over by Smith Generated the EMP from what i can guess. (just 2 minutes in the door from seeing it second time round). At the end they say someone triggered it early downing 5 other ships in the process, the then canned for survivors finding that Bloke/Smith who was lying beside Neo at the end.

A little off topic but did anyone else stay until after all the credits to see trailer for Revolutions? looks like that one may well be the best of the 3.

For anyone who hasnt seen the film yet i urge you to stay past the credits. You won`t be disapointed.

I saw it and loved it. I didn`t notice the time go by at all.

A little bit of nit picking though.

It doesn`t have and couldn`t have the blow your mind factor that the first film had.

There is just a little too much CGI, especially in the burly brawl. (Yes, I can tell the difference between CG Keanu and real Keanu)

There isn`t much difference between the point where the film started and film ended. ie Zion about to be attacked. In that respect, Reloaded is just filler between the first movie and Revolutions.

Reloaded is big on exposition though, with the two plus hours filled with pseudo-philosophy and plot twists to keep any fan happy until and beyond November debating unanswered questions. The Wachowski`s haven`t played it safe in that respect and have actually made a film that satisfies the fans.

The action is stunning...

Did I say I loved this film?

Oh yeah I had a laugh out loud moment when Neo and the Architect were talking. Architect was describing how the dark side of humanity formed the basis of the Matrix and the wall of monitors started flashing up horrific images of dictators and depredations. They then pause on good ol` George W Bush. Hilarious.

Did anyone see the trailer for Revolutions at the end of the cast?
:-D

Ive just been sitting thinking and i thnk Chewie may well be onto something there with regards to the Real world being part of the Matrix. Didnt the Architect say something like they will destroy Zion like they have done 5-6 times before and that they were getting better at it?

hhmmmmmm, my head is becoming more and more full of what if this`s and what if that`s, dont you just love films that do that, lol

Not when I`m trying to get to sleep at night ;-p

But I`m really looking forward to Revolutions, and I did see the trailer at the end of Reloaded. If I remember right, Joel Silver said that Revolutions is mostly based in the real world, but the trailer shows more Matrix action. I love the shot of Neo and Agent Smith in the rain, running at each other, punching and then flying back. Also, did I see Agent Smith fly at the end? Does he learn/steal Neo`s powers?

So many questions???????????????????
