Mobile phone advice needed - I`m looking to upgrade

RWB (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 1st June 2003, 15:42

I have been on Pay As You Go exclusively up until now, but the time has come for me to move to contract I think, as all these new flashy phones are just too expensive to buy on PAYG.

I am wanting a camera phone of sorts, or maybe the Nokia one with built-in video. These are the handsets I am considering:

-Nokia 3650
-Nokia 7250
-Panasonic GD87
-Samsung (Matrix one, 180 rotation)

What are they like? Also, where can I get the best contract deal - low monthly charge. I won`t be using it that much per month but free texts would be nice.

Thanks in advance. :)

Don`t know about any of those phones but when I recently changed from payg to contract I used http://www.e2save.com/index2_800.php
and was very pleased with the service I had from them .

Micky, is that the one with the rotating camera I take it? If so, can you answer these quick questions:

-What is the screen like?
-Are the images good quality on the phone itself?
-Is the interface easy to use?
-Does it have predictive text input?
-Good ringtones?
-What features does it have?
-Is it worth upgrading from my Sony J70 to it?

Ta. :)

personally i would get the 3650....

i have 1 and although everyone goes on about the size of it, it isnt actually THAT big. Its very light 2.
The screen is amazing and the picture quality is the best that i have seen.
It is extremely easy 2 use as its more like a computer than a phone.
It does have predictive text and texting is made even easier due to the large screen.
It takes ringtones to a whole different level. i had a Samsung T100 b4 this phone and was amazed at the polyphonic ringtones. However on the 3650 u can have .wav files as ur ringtone. I currently have R Kelly ignition, very good quality and easy obtainable for free on the internet.
If u have a bluetooth adapter( bout £25) then this opens up even more features. I have a gameboy colour emulator running at the moment aswell as a mp3 player.
It also has a built in video camera which is very good 4 capturing those party moments.
Sorry 4 the long post but this phone is amazing. I was sceptical at 1st bcoz of its size but the features more than make up 4 it.

Anything else u wana no just ask.......

o yeah and if ur lookin 4 a good contract then at the o2 website they r currently offering 500 free texts with every monthly contract. Only downside is that u pay £125 4 the phone......

Thanks for the info. Taken onboard, and yes, I may be swayed towards the 3650. :)

Why are you wanting to upgrade...?
Is it your mates have the all singing all dancing camera phones.
IMO although I do have a mobile, I think these people who text message 50 times a day and take photos of their dogs, cats, goldfish and sunday dinners are a bunch of d*******s.
So my advice is dont become a d******* yourself save your money and
get something better instead.

It`s not a case of being a d******* or not. I don`t text much actually, but the reason for the upgrade is really cost - you get a much better deal on contract, and if I am upgrading, I might as well make use of the cheaper handsets and get an "all singing all dancing" phone. :)
