Can`t beleive this :-(

Former Manchester City and West Ham footballer Marc-Vivien Foe has died.

The Lyon and Cameroon international player, with over 60 caps, collapsed during a match in France.

He had been playing in his country`s 1-0 Confederations Cup win over Colombia when he collapsed in the centre circle.

The midfielder, who made some 38 appearances for Manchester City last season, is thought to have died from a heart attack.

Initial reports said he may have swallowed his tongue.

Medical workers tried for 45 minutes to resucitate him but to no avail.

A Fifa doctor confirmed his death shortly after the match at Lyon football club`s Stade Gerland.

Adam Muller said: "The French doctors tried to reanimate him for 45 minutes. During these 45 minutes, we had unfortunately no reaction from the player."

Another Confederations Cup game is going ahead this evening between France and Turkey.

French players were said to be in tears before the kick off.

He was not even 30. This is very sad.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

Having watched the game with the volume down I never realised the distress or danger he was in when I watched him being carried off the field. I only learned of his untimely passing when I sat down to watch the France V Turkey game and felt extremely sad for not only his untimely passing but also felt for the Cameroon players along with the French players who knew him from his time at Lyon ?.
The French goalkeeper looked particularly affected by the passing of Marc and as such I take my hat off to him and the rest of the players who managed to put the sad passing of Marc behind them for a short time and then provide such great entertainment in the first half. Their actions are a testament to the will, commitment and cameraderie that exists between so many players when tragedy strikes one of their counterparts.
The only sour note seems to be that Septic Bladder made an announcement on French television stating that the game would go ahead on Sunday. While I agree that the game should in all probability go ahead it merely shows Septic Bladder in a bad light. A simple gesture such as waiting until after the game would have been more seemly than a statement during a game.

Rest in peace Marc and my thoughts are with your family, friends and colleagues.

Choagy.

i feel gutted about this. this was a hugely respected footballer, much admired within the game. this will send shockwaves the football. its amazing really how these things just happen. its quite scary really that this guy was only a couple of years older than me and twice as fit! it just shows that it can happen to any of at any moment... RIP

Just saw some snipets of the match, prior to his death. Very disturbing stuff. One minute he was there, full of life, celebrating Cameroon`s goal, and then all of a sudden, he`s down on the floor minutes from death. =(
