What is the best way to connect a DVD player to the Amp?
I have a Mitsibushi TV (without S-Vhs) and I am looking at the SC-2000 or the Loewe DVD player. The problem will be connecting the DVD to the amp (Sony 930DBR) the choices are co-axial, optical, s-video or 5.1 audio. Which one is the best?, I am also limited in space for the cable run, which will be seven metres. Which cable should I use and does anyone know of any companies that provide good cables at a good cost (I don`t want to pay the same price for a cable that I would for the player)
Thanks
Jocko

You should connect both coax and stereo phono for the audio, and then composite for video. Then connect the video out from your amp to your TV, that should cover all the bases.

The Sony 930 doesn`t have any on-screen functions, so connecting the video of your DVD player through the amp will result in a loss of quality, so connect that directly to the TV via an all pins wired screened SCART cable.
As far as audio is concerned, optical is always the best quality, but you will be hard-pushed to find a 7 metre TOSLink cable, failing this go for a digital coaxial cable. There is no point in connecting the stereo outputs of your DVD-player through the amp as CD audio and Pro-logic DVD`s will still be transfered to the amp via the digital connector.
http://www.techtronics.com is a good source for cables and may even be able to produce an optical cable to order.
