SCAN-2000 vs Wharfedale 750

I am torn between the two budget DVD players. I am slightly included towards SCAN-2000 as they seem to have better quality with added bonus of being able to play MP3 CDs as I read in some reviews. However, as I also would like to use it for listening to music CDs (I think I will probably listen to music a lot more than watch movies on it.), I wonder how good they are at playing music CDs. I read somewhere that Wharfedales are quite good at playing music CDs but suffers from lame build quality, noisy operation and slow loading. Is there any direct comparison of the two players, especially with respect to their music CD replaying quality? Ideally, I would love to hear them both before I make up my mind but it doesn`t seem to be possible so I would love to hear from someone who had chance to test both of the players. I would be grateful for any suggestion. BTW, I read in this forum that postage can be waived when ordering a SCAN-2000 player by mentioning this site. What do I exactly have to say? Thanks a lot in advance!

Just mention the site dvdreviewer. A word of warning though there have been a few problems with the current batch of players and shimmering . Something to do with the rgb/scart or something like that. I have had the same problem and phoned them to day and they could not of been nicer andf agreed to swap the player over for a brand new player free of charge and they will even come and collect the old one. it is a really good player for music cds and mp3s.

Hi Gary,

Did u try the player with svcds/vcds, what was the quality like and what cd-r/cd-rw media does it accept. Is it fussy about the media or will it just play anything?!

Also with regards to them exchanging the player for you free of charge. Is the following correct:

- They will collect ure duff player from u at their own cost
- At the same time they will deliver a brand new replacement player (also free of delivery charge)
- Will u be getting this free replacement now or in August? As far as I am aware they claim that ONLY SOME of the players they have in stock are affected. If that is the case why dont they test a new player now and send out this working replacement immediately?

Your response to the above is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Magik

magik99,

I think they only collect the player at their own cost if you ask for a replacement.

video cds worked fine as did cdrs (cheap ones too). They will collect my player in August as they are iut of stock at the moment. Not too long to wait though.
