Page 1 of Old VHS Tape
General Forum
Just been through some old tapes that I found in the cupboard.
Kept fast forwarding them (remember when you used to have to do that??) to see what was on them, came across:
Episodes of Dungeons and Dragons
Michael Jackson interview with Oprah Winfrey
Home Alone - from the permier of it being shown on Sky Movies+
Just wondering if anyone else has come across old-school stuff like this on old video tapes...... :)
Found an episode of terrorhawks on a tape last week.. same tape had episodes of he-man and fraggle rock too!
ones with old ads are the best;
`SUNKIST!!! Drink it in the su-u-uu-un, sunkist is the o--oo--ooone"
"whoo-ooo---OOOOOOOOO_O_O_--oooooooa-aa-ah, BODYF-O_O_OOOOrm.. Bodyfooormed for yooooo-o-oooo-oooo"
Old eps of LA LAW, Golden Girls, In Bed With MeDinner, James Brown Doc, The Sullivans, all crap, but with a hint of nostalgia, and that Ready Brek glow that only 15-year old VHS tape lends, youre in TV heaven......

When my 1 month old Daughter was ill I had to call out a Doctor and at that time the film Excaliba (spelt wrong) was on C4 for the first time, I stuck a maxell E-180 in the machine and taped it with adverts, that was nearly eighteen years ago and I have still got the film plus 200 other video tapes with stuff on that is years old.
Oscar.
Miles of the bloody stuff. Whole series, old movies. I`m transferring the rarer, more fondly remembered stuff to DVD+R bit by bit. The oldest tapes are of an `eighties series NOBODY remembers called "Ticket To Ride" made by LWT and New World (?), starring Christoper Cazenove (Anthony Andrews in the pilot) and Margaret Whitton.
Just checked IMDb and they list it under "A Fine Romance" - it was obviously retitled for the UK to avoid confusion with the Judi Dench series of the same name.
BTW - check your tapes before running them - I`ve noticed a few tapes with white dust on them and suspiciously the heads of my VHS machine clogged up suddenly. This may be a household occurrence of a problem the BBC has had in the past called "white oxide", caused by the tape deteriorating over time. I`ve had to bin a number of tapes that have been like that.

I have an open mind - everything goes in one ear and out the other.
I was never a fan of VHS. Infact, I hated tapes. F*cking hated them. And I never had Laser Disc, so it wasn`t a snobbish opinion either. But I love DVD. I think I bought more DVDs in the first 6 months since buying my player than I bought VHS tapes in my whole life.
But I did find one tape that had Star Wars on it, and I did watch it :D
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)
I totally agree Chewie... I alway hated music and video tape!! Even without reason such as knowing better. I just found the formats primitive and unclean even rough around the edges. When CDs came along I was amased that such a clean and pefect system had been created... and when DVD`s came about I was sooooo happy.

Was having a look at all my old VHS and Beta vids, came across some old heavy metal Raw Power show`s (Krusher and the lovely Anne) and some James Whale show`s with Charlie Chuck doing his "And a slice of that cake over there" routeen. Still cracks me up.
Ah the memories!

You still have a betamax machine, amazing! Next thing you will be saying is that you still have an eight track cartridge player in your car.
You wonder if some people ever throw old stuff out or hand it in to Oxfam?
After saying that i just came across an old VHS tape stuck down the back of the sideboard and it contained 6 half hour episodes of REBOOT, a computer grenerated cartoon series from 1993.
