DJ Shadow, UNKLE, RJD2, DJ Yoda, DJ Format; anybody else listen to these?

Admittedly, have only got into the above artists over the past twelve months (my ex-flatmate was a DJ), but don`t know many people who like them as much as me. Anybody else listen to them on here, and do you have anything else you can recommend to me? 8)

Just been listening to "How to Cut and Paste 80`s Edition" by DJ Yoda which is f***ing brilliant. If you are a child of the 80`s you will love it I guarantee. He uses samples from things like Airwolf, Goonies, Hill Street Blues and mixes them in with tracks like 19 and Final Countdown; it`s really humourous and cheesy and sounds just so damn cool. It may look like crap from my description, but it really isn`t honestly. :D

To me, DJ Formats album is for me one of the best albums of recent years, It sounds very much like De La Soul and is a definite recommendation to anybody who likes that kind of thing.

So, anybody else listen to this kind of thing on here?

I have got into DJ Shadow cause i really liked the blood on the motorway track that was used on the O2 advert, and ended up buying the album when i saw it going cheep (like the Budgie) in my local Fopp. Can`t say i have heard the others, but i might have a listen if they are in a similar groove. :)

Yeah, they are. Try track them down as I`m sure you`ll like them if you like DJ Shadow.

Aye,The 120 Minutes programme on MTV (?) on Saturday nights has a lot of this sort of electronic stuff on.It does sound fresh and clean compared to the deluge of hip-hoppy stuff.I too like DJ Shadow cos of the O2 ad.Aphex Twin do some good uns and I like Sigur Ros (who aren`t electronic really) if you`re in a dreamy mood.Lot of people seem to like Boards of Canada and Mum but I`m not really into them.

Seriously though, if you like DJ Shadow check out some of the others I`ve mentioned, specifically DJ Format. His album got rave reviews when it came out.

My favourite DJ Shadow stuff is his Product Replacement and Brainfreeze albums. They`re like a mix of soul/motown/funk and are some of my favourite CD`s in my collection.

Im listening to `Six Days` as i type. One of my all time faves. Try some of the Mo` Wax back calalogue. The `Headz` compilation is just amazing.

And on a slightly different note, I bought endtroducing and tomb raider at the same time one christmas and hammered them both at the same time. Now everytime i hear anything from endtroducing i am taken stright back to the huge room with the sphinx filled with water.

Anyone else got any good music triggered memories?

Funnily enough, one Xmas I got Tomb Raider 2 and The Stone Roses (first) album, and now whenever I play Tomb Raider or see anyone else play it I instantly think of tracks on that album.

A very old thread I know, but searched on UNKLE and this is one of the ones that came up.

Just got into UNKLE in the last month because I`d seen they are playing at Glastonbury and a few people were raving about them on the forums.

I`d always assumed that they were some kind of Hard Rock band for some reason when I`d heard their name :/

Anyway I`ve listened to

Psyence Fiction
Never Never Land
War Stories
Edit Music For A Film (plus the bonus disc)

Is there anything else I should be looking out for?

I personally like War Stories best (that`s the first I listened to though) which I understand isn`t a popular decision.

I`ve already got DJ Shadow- The Outsider but haven`t heard anything else. Should I be looking for older stuff?

Got one DJ Yoda album- The Amzing Adventures of DJ Yoda wasn`t really impressed, although I`ve got a couple of mixes that are much better. Again should I be looking for more?

Got a DJ Format Fabric mix which hasn`t had much play time and never even heard of R2D2.

Anyway what`s happened in the past four years and what have I missed out on before that?
