Should I get R1 or R2 discs? What are the differences?

Region 1 discs are alway released before their european counterparts which gives you the chance to view films before they are released here.
Region 1 usually gives more extras on the disc as well.

Make sure that your player can play them first though. Check the list on this site.

A few region 2 discs offer better value than their region 1 counterparts (eg The World is Not Enough, Summer of Sam) but mostly, the chance to get discs much earlier, if you have the multi-region capability anyway, is too nice to resist.
