iron duke, where did u order the hitachi 505 from, and how much did it cost? anywhere i can c a review of the player?

Ordered my Hitachi 505 from http://www.dvdmagic.net/, for £330 + 10 p&p.

You can get it for 299 + 10 P&P without macrovision disabled.

The reasons I have gone for this player is it is a well known brand, It has dual laser that read everything (The American version even read MP3, but one of the reviews I saw said Hitachi where under pressure to take it out, I just hope mines still got it). The reviews found here http://www.audioreview.com are by people who own one although I think all are American, most of the reviews are very favourable, the few that are not seem to point to a duff player.

bewarned though if hitachi release a firmware CD update for any problems with future DVD`s the MR hack is software so it will wipe it.

DVDMagic said they recieve the latest updates and would rehack the machine for upto a year at the cost of postage & packing.

From what I have heard the player has a built in menu for MP3.

The reason I am not going for the new buget machine I stated is that I have been burnt by budget already(SCAN) so now its time to try quality!

what is going on here, the thread started with a plug for a £220.00 wonder machine that no ones ever heard of and will probably end up on here with all its faults as the scan 2000 has and will be £40-50 cheaper within a couple of weeks(back to the scan) and ends with an hitachi 505 which is probably a clone as is the 305 of a samsung machine
