Hi all
For my sins I purchased a Grundig gdv220 from Currys (I know stupid huh)but that was before I found this group.
Anyway I told the person on the other end that on virtually all the dvd`s at some point or other the film skips anumber of times, different places each time.
He said that this is due to layer changes! and that the dvd is constantly changing through layer one to layer two at certain points to read the film and that this is how it works. Now correct me if I am wrong but I thought layer changes only happen on long films on dual layer discs made for this purpose.
Is he talking a load of crap.

Sound like it on a normal film the layer change should happen once.
Normal = not branched or multi angle ect.
I too had one of them Grundig players - its the same exactly as the Matsui DVD120 - I would take it back and pay a bit more for the Philips 701. All my DVD`s were skipping constantly. The bloke at mastercare tried to tell me a pack of lies too. He said "new dvds may have to much data on them" whatever thats supposed to mean. The discs should only briefly pause for about half a second when halfway through the disc (layer change). Your player is skipping whenever there is a chapter change.
Take it back and get a different one
