MP3`s - Can all Macines play these ? and.....

neilw (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 24th April 2001, 15:53

Hello everyone.

I`ve seen threads in here which make reference to a Beatles MP3 Disc. that holds nearly the whole Beatle Catalogue.....Is this True?

Can all Machines play MP3`s ? Will mine ? (Sanyo DVD1500)
Where could I get this Disc, can it be purchased ? (Legally or illegally)

Oh , and what is MP3 ?

Hopefully someone will be able to help me.

Thanks,
Neil

"Oh , and what is MP3 ?"

Where have you been? Locked in a cupboard?

Mp3 is the second most searched for word on the internet

Mp3 is a file compression format which roughly converts a CD track to 1/10 of the size ( so if you get 20 tracks on an audio cd you can get 200 mp3 quality tracks on one CD-R/RW!!

Quality is not as good as CD but not far off.

No, not all DVD players can play Mp3. It must say Mp3 in your instructions.

Sorry can`t help you with the Beatles question.

As for the beatles question, you won`t get all the albums on 1 disc, you`ll get them on 2 - 4, depending on how many albums they have out, you can normally get 10 albums at 128/192 bitrate on 1 cd.

Actually much of the Beatles stuff is Mono, so if single channel 64kbs is used a CD will hold 20 hours.

More than enuff for that s***!

You don`t like the Beatles then? Heretic! :-)

Actually most of the Beatles` albums were released in both mono *and* stereo format, then you have the Anthology stuff etc. - I imagine you`d need about 3 or 4 CDs to hold them all if you use 128 stereo/64 mono.

Thanks for your replies , I`ll assume my Sanyo Palyer cannot play MP3`s.

(I do know about MP3 , what I didn`t know was the technical stuff , which has kindly been given ,thanks).
