Moo.. (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 8th May 2001, 15:35

f*****g hell. im making s***loads on ebay.co.uk. these people will pay through the roof for dvds! for some bizarre reason theyll pay more for 2nd hand stuff when its cheaper brand new! im currently flogging a dvd i payed £8 for and at the moment its going for the best part of £14. and the auctions only really just began. the best one was when i sold the `flipper` version of The Rock. i had it on at around a fiver and ended up with over a tenner.!!!!!!!!!!

Ebay`s great fun isn`t it ?!

I`ve made some money on discs which I`ve since replaced with better versions.

What is your Ebay ID ?

Downside is Ebay charge you for selling. It`s not made obvious when you do it though. Two months later you will get a demand for money from them. Can`t remember what their cut is, but I "sold" some speakers and stuff totalling about £170 - both sales fell through i.e. no replies from bidders, duff e-mail addresses etc. - now they want a tenner off me for the privilege. Don`t think so Ebay. Help me boycott them and use uk.yahoo.com

yeah Dan thats my email...

ebay do charge i know, but its pretty resonable to me. how else do you think they make money? i suppose it depends on what youre selling. ive sold several dvds, but my bill is only £3 odd. didnt think that was too bad.

incidentally did you all know that ebay is the biggest internet shopping site? even bigger than amazon!!! apparently they made around £14,000,000 last year alone!!!!!!!

Heh, Elephant !

I took your lead and put my old flipper of The Rock up for auction.

I find if you put a bit of effort into the marketing it goes down a treat... In the first 24 hours the price has risen to a tasty £4.20 already !!

bloody hell Dan! thats one hell of a marketing campaign youve got going there!!! ;-) its true though i find if you put a bit of effort into it, your items sell much easier. notice you didnt mention that it was a flipper though.....

i tend to drag pics off play247 and stick them onto my auction. i think people are more assured if they know what soemthings going to look like. ive just finished my action for Auditon. id payed £8 for it and ended up selling it for £17. result!!! ive even managed to sell the woeful Mystery Men for around £8 too. ive not failed to sell anything yet!

I haven`t mentioned it`s a flipper.... caveat emptor my son !

Yes, a bit of effort and a few pictures go a long way.

I`ve even had good money for those Star Trek VHS tapes !
