Hi

I`m pretty new to buying R1 dvds and wondered if anyone could help me!

I`m trying to buy season 4 of CSI, it seems the best prices are either play.com or loaded247.com. Both sites advertise free delivery, so far both are equal. Play have it for £26.99 and Loaded is £29.99. However I have been told that over a certain cost price, a tax is applied. How much is this? Will this apply to both of these companies??

If anyone can help, it will be very much appreciated

Cheers

You should be fine when buying a £18+ DVD from Play.com as they ship from within the UK. £18+ DVDs from PlayUSA.com are likely to recieve a customs charge.

EDIT - The complete season 4 (6 discs) is available at CDWOW for £44.99 with free delivery and no danger from customs.

I`ve used DVD Import a few times - infact last time to get CSI Season 4 before Xmas - £22.74 and I`ve never been hit by customs - I might have been lucky though!

£45 quid? i would risk it personally and get it from playusa. tax will not come out to the £19 difference between cdwow and play.

you could also maybe look at dvdimport.com. generally no issues there.

I`ve had stuff from CDWow stopped.

I`ve found that imports from all companies get stopped once in a while (and it tends to come in bursts - nothing stopped for several months then a month or so of misery, then nothing stopped again for ages). The only consolation I have is that even after paying duty, the discs are still cheaper than R2.

Plus, what gets stopped/let through in one area of the UK at one time doesn`t seem to be stopped/let through in another, so what may work for one contributor to this thread may not work for another. Personally I`d go for the cheapest price and see what happens.

CD Wow are fine. Either you won`t get hit, or they`ll refund your money if you are. Only, paying £45 would be STOOPID!
