Page 1 of Help Needed Munich Oktoberfest

Has anyone ever been to oktoberfest?

I need some advice on tickets to the event, reservations for the beer tents, where to stay etc

Any help would be appreciated

I would book a hotel in advance. I once arrived in Munich the day the Oktoberfest started (never occurred to us - especially as it was September). We eventually found a hotel about 20 miles out in the countryside.
We visted the Oktoberfest, as it was on, and I don`t think you need advance tickets - it is just like a massive fair (some of the rides can rival Altons Towers). There are loads of beer tents, and again I don`t think you would need to reserve just to get drinks (however there may be events on at specific times that you may need some more research on).

As to where to stay - depends on how much money you want to spend. Public transport in Munich is excellent, so location is not vital.

Thanks for that, I was looking round the internet and I thought that I needed to reserve a table in a tent.

I will keep reading up about it and hopefully I will be going there in September
