Well I found this out to my expense - and I haven`t seen the film.....

You must have heard it from someone...
Actually, knowing the twist makes viewing the film more interesting, because now you can see the result of jackson`s years of bitterness, and you can now see 2 sides to his character.
A bit like Carlito`s way is more interesting and involving because you know that Carlito is going to die. (not a spoiler as it is shown at the beginning).

But that`s why I`m buying it and not renting it - so I can watch it once and get the shock (if there is one) out of the way and then watch it again and disect the story, plot and character development.
