Kids stuff in Edinburgh/borders

Staying in Melrose for a few days with our 2 1/2 year old lad. Any tips on kiddy-type stuff to do with him up there? (we`ve already got a visit to the zoo planned. And we may do Alnwick gardens on the way back to see the big treehouse!).
Thanks in advance.

The huge aquarium complex ( I think it`s called seaworld ) about 1/2 mile over the north end of the Forth road Bridge is well worth a visit.
Very well signposted and easy parking.

It`s Deep Sea World, but it is the first junction after you cross the Forth Bridge into Fife (North Queensferry).
