I know its not cool on a memorial thread to say this, but I will never know how Gene Pitney became so famous. He has an absolutely awful, nasally singing voice that sounds like someone doing the pub singer round in shooting stars.

OMG!! A personal opinion based on a well tested observation is the most stupid thing you have ever read? Do you not preview your own posts much?
As the Doc said, im entitled to my opinion and, to be honest, I thought I put it forward pretty respectfully. But you can console yourself with repeated play of his Greatest Hits CD, coming to a store near you by the end of next week.

I quite liked the one Gene did with Marc Almond. He was only 65 and in the middle of a UK tour (he performed last night actually) and had shown no signs of illness . It`s quite scary to think someone who is still relatively young/active can just suddenly die like that... :(
