`Manchester United are facing a clean-up bill running into thousands of pounds after Liverpool supporters went on the rampage at Old Trafford during their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. Seats were ripped out, toilets smashed and graffiti daubed over the walls making crude references to the Munich air disaster. United`s directors, among them the Munich survivor Sir Bobby Charlton, have been described as "appalled" by the level of damage in the stands housing the Liverpool fans and particularly the amount of graffiti and its explicit nature.
"Shipman is our king" has been sprayed in several different locations, apparently celebrating Harold Shipman`s murders on the basis that most of the victims were from Greater Manchester. There are also references to the death of George Best and one steward reported that human faeces had been smeared on the walls.
Workmen have been called in to repair the worst affected areas before United`s next home match, against Middlesbrough on Monday, and the club intend to forward the bill to the Football Association. Officials at Soho Square have already been made aware of the damage and they will reluctantly pay for the damages.
It is understood United had lobbied the FA against staging the semi-final with a 5.15pm kickoff, urging them to hold the game as early as possible to eradicate the threat of drunken trouble.
"It was a high-profile fixture and we expected a bit of damage," an Old Trafford spokesman confirmed. A Liverpool spokesman declined to comment last night.`

That's definitely the minority of Liverpool Fans! You can guarantee to go out in Liverpool when a match is on in town and be shown that the majority of fans are passionate, loving and a f***ing great laugh. …At some point it could be said for any football team fans, that minority will do something stupid like start fights etc.

Speaking as an Everton fan myself these `fans` are thankfully a minority. Most of my mates are Liverpool fans and after being born and bred in Liverpool I can state from personal experience that this does not always happen. Us scousers on a whole are the best people you could ever wish to meet. Trust me , after travelling the country during my life I can truelly say that.

Did anyone see the picture of the Chelsea `fan` giving a nazi salute in the Sunday papers? Even his daughter - who looked about 8 years of age - was giving one fingered salutes. I see that has been quickly forgotten!

The truth is is that every club has a minority of idiots who let their respective clubs down. These morons are just bored and due to a lack of intelligence , social standards and being dragged up as opposed to brought up the only way they know of `making there mark in life` is by hooliganism!

Thats a myth perpetuated by the Liverpool tourist board. Same as the `Scousers have the best sense of humour in the country. They love the crack, ahr eh?`.

Using a non-scientific study of all the people ive met I would actually say that scousers were among the biggest c***s. They talk to you when you dont want them to, think everybody within a 50 meter radius wants to hear `the crack` and wont shut up about how amazing scousers are, which seems to be the number one topic of conversation.

On the whole, I would give geordies the title of `best people you could hope to meet`. Self effacing, funny and generous. The also love `the crack` but dont remind you of it every five minutes.

On the other end of the scale, people east london seem to be born with chips on their shoulders and sticks up their arses.

That concludes my sweeping generalisations for the day.

PPPS (?) - Keeping to the thread,Rangers and Celtic fans consistently damage our ground when they come.Every game,without fail.Averages around £10k of damage every game.
