Being Single

Sprog_88 (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 15th May 2006, 14:51

I know that I am only young and I know that people say that there is plenty of time to fall in love. However do you get the feeling that evryone else arouind you is in love or at least with someone and you feel the odd one out.

I want that to happen to me, I just wondered what people thought about it all and whether it was just me who noticed it.

People all lovey dovey make me sick. And yes this is probably down to jealousy ..

I also believe that most people in long-term relationships are living a lie, just because they are scared of dying single and alone.

…but I do hope I am proven wrong with time.

.

Belief or wishful thinking?

I dunno, im not scared of being single or being alone. Im with my mrs because shes cool, funny and I fancy the arse off her. In the general `Good things/Bad Things` list, being with her every day far outweighs not. Maybe im one of the lucky ones.........

Sprog, how old are you? Because if 88 is the year you were born, you still have many years of meaningless, casual sex ahead of you before you meet the right person. In fact, at that age, its almost an obligation. Like the try before you buy thing at sainsburys.

I`ve just becmoe single again for the first time in five years (scary scary) and it does seem like everyone is extra specially couply and yicky at the mo. <insert sick smiley here>

Anyway...I`m off for that meaningless, casual sex Nick the Gun mentioned...should be fun, and I reckon I`ve got some catching up to do ;)

You never find something like this when you`re looking for it, it just sort of comes on its own (so to speak ;) ).

I seem to hang about with people that are either engaged/married or proud to be single. I`m neither, but one night stands are usually fun.

I was in the same boat this time last year. Was really scary… all my friends were just getting into serious relationships and I was just coming out. Strangest feeling was not having anyone else to think about, no one elses feelings to worry about hurting.

But falling in love - long term relationships (well longish) -I don't have any regrets! All the mistakes I have made I have learnt from. And among the s*** - the were good times, (wouldn't of stuck along for so long if the wasn't.)

That is true. ..

The poem by Wendy Cope I think is good :) . (I am sure it can work for women as well ?!?)

Bloody Men

Bloody men are like bloody buses -
You wait for about a year
And as soon as one approaches your stop
Two or three others appear.
You look at them flashing their indicators,
Offering you a ride.
You`re trying to read the destinations,
You haven`t much time to decide.
If you make a mistake, there is no turning back.
Jump off, and you`ll stand there and gaze
While the cars and the taxis and lorries go by
And the minutes, the hours, the days.

Hey sprog, I can remember feeling like that. I even used to cry on a mates shoulder sayin "i am never going to have a girlfriend, i am so ugly no one will ever fancy me" and then it happened (not till i was 18 mind) but it happened. Then it was complete reverse, it like they where falling at my feet. Your time will come. I got lucky and had the right look for the time. Remember looks are a fashion thing. Your time will come....trust me.

My Mrs and I will celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary in September, and to echo Nick`s sentiments. I still fancy my Mrs,s arse. And the other bits...in fact all of the bits.

...wasn`t your BF "Nemesis"? Does that mean he won`t be around here anymore...? Or was it a "friendly" split...?

(or should I mind my own business, lol!)
