NTSC Probblem

stepea (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 10th October 2001, 19:45

I have a Matsui TV and a Sony DVD Multi Region Player

I have played a Region 1 disc but It plays black & White

On the TV it has an option for NTSC 4.4 but doesn`t change it to colour.

Do I need a convertor - I have heard that they do not work on DVD players.

or do I need a change in cables - currently using already scart lead.

Please Help

your tv doesnt accept a `true` ntsc signal hence the picture being in black and white. you need a ntsc to pal convertor which you can get from maplin (either your locsl store or maplin.co.uk) for £50 or www.keene.co.uk for £60. maplin seem to have limited stock though but keene definately seem to have them in.

Doesn`t one of the SCARTs on your TV support RGB? That should solve the problem. Make sure your player is set to output RGB also.

just to throw an idea in here (and if it works Ok with region 2 than just ignore me) but if you put an Svideo signal to a normal Scart socket or the other way around then that will only give you black & white.

if this is a though then try connecting it via composite
