Just as the title says, Is this player any good? Any region hacks or maybe even a Macro turn off hack. Might change my Dansai for one these if thay are any good. Would it be worth the extra for the AD-M 212?
Advise Grateful
Cheers.

I have the 512, which unlike the 212 has DD decoder - no problems with any discs so far, Macrofree and Multiregion (need to change firmware to get this). However, I think the 528 has superceded the 512, and there isn`t a Macro hack for it (as yet - may never be!)
RE: Cyberhome AD-N 212, Any Good?
Richard,
You must be lucky, Ive bought the 512 and its got v9.9 Firmware, Not region Free and Macro is always on, DAM IT! ! ! Ive got to get v9.8 or lower to get the hacks working :(
Yeah, I updated the firmware myself. Do you want the disc I used - guaranteed working, as I used it on my player!
Email me - drahcir[at]ku.oc.namllah - with your address, and I`ll stick it in the post.
Otherwise you can download it from http://www.cyberhome-help.de/fadm2512_english.php4 - they have instructions on how to burn it onto a CDROM using Nero, but other apps should be similar.
When you do the update, be patient, and follow the instructions exactly, and DON`T PANIC! It does take a minute or so to run. It is easy enough, though.
Richard
Richard,
Thanks for the offer. If you would like to email me with your address to ytsuD[at]ku.oc.evreseerf.rewopleseiD I can get a Postal Order sent down to you to cover the cost of P+P (you should give me an idea of the cost)!, Once the firmware has been updated on my player Ill send it back down to you.
Thanks once again for the offer.
Dusty
Its OK I managed to get myself a disk with v8.0, Both the hacks work now. Yippy.
Thanks anyway Richard.

Good stuff.
Hope you`re enjoying the player. It`s the only one I`ve had, so difficult to know how it compares with others, but the more I use it, the happier I am. No problem discs at all, yet.
BTW - if you`re really sad, I think you can now set the firmware up to display the image of your choice, instead of the default Cyberhome image. Means burning another disk and flashing the firmware again, though.
To be honest I wouldnt know how to do the Image of my choice thing, But if Ive nothing to do one day I might have a look on the net give it a go.
Cheers.
