Can anyone recommend me some software for video editing?

Bezzawezza (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 19th May 2007, 08:05

I have a load of old family videos which have been put onto DVD. Now I would like to be able to grab clips from those DVDs and mix them together with some music over the top (its a gift for my old dear)
Whats the best software to use for this? Is it cheap?

Ulead Videostudio or Adobe Premiere Elements are worth looking at.

You should be able to download 1-month trials from Ulead or Adobe, iirc.

Will they allow me to cut clips from the old DVDs?

You`ll need dvddecrypter to rip the DVD`s to your hard drive and extract the VOB`s (The DVD video files) Here`s a guide on how to do that.

Then use womble MPEG editor

Drag the VOB`s into this to edit and add music and stuff. Womble is a great editor and ridiculously easy to use.
