What is the best and cheapest provider of broadband?

I`m currently with talktalk on a 2mg connection (unlimited download) for £15pm. I cannot fault the service (apart from no p2p). Though now-a-days with free broadband around it seems a little expensive for what I`m getting.

I could go for orange 2mg for free or 8mg with free landlines call around world for free for £5. Though you have to renew contract for 18 months and at the moment I am12 months in to my 18 month contract at moment. I be damned if they expect me to keep the same old battered phone for 30 months. I`ve also heard mixed reviews ref the standard of the service they provide.

Unfortunately Sky doesn`t offer free broadband in my area and no Virgin service what-so-ever.

Any recommendations from anyone ... thanks again!!

Chris

A few of my friends and I decided to change to sky a few weeks ago. we were each paying between £15-£30 month for our broadband.

Some have gone for the basic free package but I have gone the the unlimited package at £10 month as our pc is in use all day every day.

I was on 2.5mb with pipex for the last year and would download at 100k if I was lucky, usually 30-50k. Now with sky and still on a 2.5mb connection but download speed is usually 150k-200k and has hit 300k once or twice.

Plus got a new router free of a charge, a Netgear DG834GT.

All the best

Gerald.

I switched from Freedom2surf to Sky a few months back and have no complaints about Sky. Only ever had the service go down and that was only for an hour and because someone had a blonde moment at the local exchange (or something like that anyway).
Im on the £5 with a 40GB limit for the record.
A quick tip for the Sky routers though, browse into them using the user ID "admin" and password "sky". Then change that user ID and password so people cant browse in from outside your house and play silly beggars.
