Page 1 of help needed to make a direct bank transfer to a abnk in holland...

as it says above, basicaly i need to make a payment from my RBS account over to a bank based in holland, but when i try it via direct banking all the there account numbers/sort codes are in a different format & RBS rejects it .....

anybody any experience with this ? i`ve done uk-to-uk transfers no problem ...... & it`s fairly urgent i get it sorted :(

You will probably need their IBAN(International Banking something)
I don`t know exactly how it works but there is a number first usually the country code, then there is a few letters to identfy the bank then the sort code and account number. I thing that is all you need. The Dutch bank should be able to provide the IBAN. Speak to RBS they can tell you evactly what you need.

You`ll probably have to go into your bank to do it. It`s not a service that is routinely available online (not that I`ve found, anyway). As said above, you`ll need the Swift code or IBAN number which the receiving bank would be able to supply. Also it`ll cost. Probably around £15. I have a French bank account and this is the only way I`ve found to transfer money from my UK account. Online would be so much easier...

Phone Direct Banking and they should be able to tell you on there or possibly arrange it.
If you only have the 0845 number, try 0141 552 9911 and I think there`s a Manchester and an Edinburgh number floating around but they`re not advertised any more :)

It`s a pain, I know. Unfortunately transferring money across borders is a bit stricter than within your own country. Might be best to contact your bank and see what they say. They might come up with a way of doing it. It`s such a palaver for such a small sum

never had the chance, & tbh, if i`m gonna get charged for doing it, it might just be easier to get some euro`s & post em :/

why not just use PayPal?
