Page 1 of region coding of older films

Here`s a moan:
I dont necessarily agree with it, but I understand the reasoning behind the region coding (even though many films on the continent were released in Cinemas and VHS weeks and even months after the UK, so why the same region?).
What I don`t understand is why are old films, available in the US but not here, coded region 1? Why not region 0?
There are films that i have had on VHS for years that I can`t get on region 2.
And where do I turn to protest about this sort of thing?
region coding is not really for preventing movies coming out on DVDs before on cinemas, but to keep the prices high!
The big movie studios are big con artists(!) they know that in some places they can easily get more money for the same item than elsewhere! (UK!!)
Otherwise, all the old DVDs and re-releases of DVDs could easily be made to be R0, but they are not!
I say let set fire to all the movie studios!
There is also the case of rights issues in different territories as different distribtors pick up the rights to different films in different territories. what i`m trying to say is that just because one company owns a film in america, say, doesn`t mean they own it in europe. thus making a worldwide release improbable but not necessarily impossible.
I still say
"let set fire to all the movie studios! "
