I enjoyed that.
It moves at quite a pace, making it very easy to read through. I could sort of see how it might end, but I still chuckled when I actually read the last line.

Brilliant! Nice Tales of the Unexpected vibe. The story flows beautifully. You`ve really got inside the minds of your two main characters there.

If you accept constructive criticism, my one slight gripe is that the changes in POV from Dave to Greg could just do with making a little more obvious - a layout thing more than anything wrong with the story. I read the story and had to go back a paragraph as I realised the POV had changed. It`s just a question of bunging an extra line of space between the paragraphs, really.

I can talk, of course. I`ve been a struggling author for the best part of thirty years and the only place I`ve been published is the reviews and columns on this site. Still, I look at it as thirty years of honing my craft and eventually I`ll be recognised for the literary genius I am. ;)

Just out of curiosity, what`s the word count for that piece?

2295, I think. Thanks for your comments. The spacing this is probably a result of pasting the text into the blogspot text box (always takes more work to sort it out), but it`s all a rich learning experience.

Had an idea for a sequel last night. You could probably spin it up into a proper novel.

As it happens, I`ve had the embryo of a much larger story bubbling under for a few weeks, and I`ve written this short story, wether by accident or design, in such a way that it would in fact be perfect as a prologue to a much deeper tale.
