Leaking washing machine: help*

JamesW (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 4th July 2009, 08:54

Hi,

Our old Ariston washer dryer has started leaking water through the door. The door seems to be closing properly, so I`m guessing the seal has given up and needs to be replaced.

Is this a job for a professional repairer? If so, any recommendations in the Glasgow area?

Cheers,

James.

I think this is a fairly simple job if you are a competent DIY`er...

As far as I know it`s usually held on with a huge jubilee clip type thing...

Hi James I changed one on a Ariston washer years ago and from what I can remember it was a bit of a pig to do,but still in the realms of DIY.
If you can see the hole in the seal (usually in the fold) you can stick a patch on from a bicycle repair kit, being careful to fully prepare the area first, mine lasted two years before I had to change the seal.
hope this is of some help to you.
