Excellent work, a rallying cry if ever I saw one.

I myself have been trying to do my bit by murdering any wasp I hear knawing at the fences to make pulp for their nests.

Wasps prey on hundredes of other insects including houseflies.

They are also food for a lot of birds.

So pretty useful.

On holiday a few years ago we had some honey for breakfast. Next day as my son took the honey jar from the cupboard, there`s a wasp in it in the middle of the jar in sticky suspended animation and not moving. It must have been there for about 23 hours.

Being curious, I fished him out and plonked him on the side of the sink. Bugger me but the little fella only starts moving.

Hadn`t the heart to splat him so put him on a piece of kitchen towel and outside in a plant pot. When we got back he was finishing preening off his antennae and wings.

I had a terrible time with them with them last year in my loft conversion ( I put up a thread about it, and got some help from members on here).

The problem was i could not find the nest after searching everywhere including pulling the ceiling apart to look in the upper triangular roof space, but they kept coming and hundreds were trapped trying to get out the closed velux windows, and dying everywhere as they dropped to the carpet.

That made the loft rooms unusable for the kids and they had to sleep in the livingroom.

I had to call in a `wasp destroyer` guy, and he spotted the wasps going into the next door neigbours loft conversion and getting through gaps in the dividing brick wall (semi-detached) and getting into my loft, sneeky things !

The nest was in the dividing wall space.

By the way, the neighbour denied any knowledge of wasps in his loft conversion, so i had to pay the full amount, for the wasp guy to spray the wasp enterance going into the neighbours loft to sort my problem.

He is a tight fisted bugger when it comes to money :/

We`ve got a couple of `waspinators` in the back garden.
They seem to do a good job of keeping the bastard things away.

It`s a shame you didn`t have the option just to block up how they were getting into your loft so they`d go into his. :/
