can anyone recommend a decent sub-£100 portable mp3/cd player?
i`ve had my eye on this one:

the Napa DAV316 MP3/CD-DA Disc Player
is there anything better (and preferably in a tolerable colour)?
I bought a nappa about 10 months ago, probably the previous one but sent it back as it missed folders & did not play all tracks. Oh it was also ugly & very thick.
The..iRiver... has had very good reviews..it also has an FM radio. I have seen it at about £150-00
I know it is more than you asked for but at sub £100-00 I have seen nothing any good & am going to get an..iRiver. http://www.mp3mediaworld.net/

I`d recommend the Rio Volts. Quality is excellent (sound and build). Also plays WMA files and can be firmware updated.

For the SP90 - might be worth looking around for the 100 though as that has a remote control too.

I know that it`s (quite a lot) more than the £100 limit that you mentioned, but I`d personally go for the Creative DAP Jukebox every time - granted it`s a bit bigger than average, but at 6 Gb it holds a hell of a lot more than then couple of albums you can usually cram onto a 64Mb player. I`ve presently got about 400 tracks on my Jukebox, mostly recorded at either 128 or 160Hz, and have still used barely a quarter of the hard disk space!
Well worth the extra expense to avoid having to change the contents of the player every few days, in my view.
The Napa and the Rio Volt etc.. don`t use smart/flash memory for music storage - they actually take music CDs and computer CDs with MP3 files on and play them. Its just a case of burn to CD and play.
I`ve put about 40 of my girlfriends cd`s onto 4 Computer discs at the moment. It just makes it a bit easier to carry music around and you can also play any CDs you havent conerted yet. I did look at the jukebox but the flexibility offered by the disc playing version won me over.
Creative Nomad juke BOX round £200 quid, 20gb what more can you say....

That`s for the 6Gb version though, isn`t it? A quick scan on Amazon (which I know is never the cheapest source, but is a reasonable indicator) has the 20Gb version at £289.99. Either way, still good value in my view!
Yeah I have the 6gb version my self its very good for music storage, but 20 gb even better!
