Page 1 of Muti Region - PAL / NSTC Question

Hello everybody. I am a noob to DVD and this is my first post.

If I get a multi-region DVD player does the encoding of the movie in PAL or NSTC make a difference?

For example:

If I buy a Region 1 DVD with a NSTC movie:
-will it play on a NSTC TV?
-will it play on a PAL TV?

If I buy a Region 2 DVD with a PAL movie:
-will it play on a NSTC TV?
-will it play on a PAL TV?

I am asking because I want to buy a DVD player in Europe. While I am living here in Germany I want to watch region 1 or 2 and NSTC or PAL versions on my PAL TV.

When I move to Japan next year, I want to watch the same disks on a NSTC TV.

Is this possible? Any recommendations on players? A dual voltage (100 / 240V) unit would be nice!

Depends entirely on your tv & when you bought it. Most, if not all new tv`s are Multi Standard & will cope with a Pal or NTSC dvd. You need to check your tv specs before you do anything else.
