It`s exactly the same hack, but you need to select R9 (all regions) to switch Macrovision off.

However, this only works on the Samsung 709 and clones, not the 511 and clones. I`m not sure which of the two the Thomson is.

The Multi-Region hack (sorry, I should have specified this more clearly) disabled Macrovision on my DTH3300 and I have succesfully taped (purely for home use), movies with startling clarity. I have noticed that I do need some form of frequency convertor as my own VCR will not tape 60hz (NTSC signals/ Region 1 Movies). Some DVD players allow you to select which frequency output to use but the Thomson 3300 uses 60Hz Pal which is just a compromise.

As the Thomson is a Samsung clone, you should be able to force true PAL (as opposed to PAL 60Hz) from NTSC discs by switching Quasi-PAL to OFF in the setup menu. Are you sure yours doesn`t do this?
