nebody got or know where i can download the region free code to unlock the Goodmans GCE 5000 DVD Portable Drive. It is a standalone player and i wud like it to play all regions.

Firstly put in your Region 1 disc into the player on the screen it will display wrong region press1and skip forward at the same time this will start the movie I know this is not a permanant answer put this will enable you to watch your Region 1 disc on the screen If you know of a better hack please keep me posted

To cremona, thanks for your help , it works a treat on my player that will do for me. very easy to apply until something else comes along, cheers dave.

Now all we need to do is make it play copied discs.....lol

Cremona`s hack works great for me. I just pressed 1 once then the skip button once and hey presto.

Anyone got any more hacks sorted yet ?

Thanks for the hack Cremona. It worked first time for me too. But I`ve found that some region 1 discs still don`t play. The first disc I tried was Nurse Betty which played straight away, but then I tried various other region 1s; Rat Race, Meet the Parents, Blues Brothers and they came up with a message along the lines of `this disc is not formatted to work with your player`. I then tried a region 1 of Dogma and that played ... so some work, some don`t. I used to have a Hoher (known as McAfreey in some regions) PDV 2000 portable which was easily hacked to be multi-region and played everything (unfortunately it got damaged) and I still have a LG which also plays everything. So it would seem that some discs have some kind of coding which the Goodmans player cannot get past ... unless there is a different hack than "1" & "skip" which we can use on the Goodmans to get past the encoding on those problematic discs mentioned above.

Can anyone one help?

hi cwp, i think you will find that region 1 disks that are made in the usa wont work with 1 and skip but canadian region 1 disks do work, not sure why but looking into it.
