Page 1 of Samsung 709....firmware question ?

How can I check which firmware version is installed while in the shop before I buy ? Is there a way and also is there a way to upgrade it ? If so where do you download it from.....

Also, the hack in another thread allowing multiregion settings also states the removal of macro, but how do you remove macro ? Does it do it automatically when you set the region free mode.

Forgive me for being a bit dim but i`m new to dvd.

Macrovision is removed when you select the "auto region" mode (Region 9).

You can`t tell the firmware version without opening the lid (though many have tried). It`s printed on the large EPROM chip at the top right hand corner of the player.
