Pioneer DV-K101 / Dv-101 VCD help

I have a pioneer dv-k101. it`s multi region via the remote, and it is supposed to play vCD`s, I mad a load and I`ve bought a load myself, but they won`t play on this machine. It keeps ejecting the disks. They work fine on my PC. Anyone know a hack to get the dvd player to play home made VCD`s?
