Welltech 20654 Portable DVD Player - Purchased from Lidl

aircub (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 6th December 2002, 12:50

Hi,

Just purchased this player from Lidl, its a little portable and very nice to. No screen though, but what do you expect for £99.00. It comes with a 12V adapter, all the cables, scart adaptor, IR remote extender and remote.

I have searched around and its nowhere to be seen on the internet.

Its made by www.ls-electronic.de

Does anybody have any hacks for this??

The thread for this player seems to be drying up. When I pressed "title 12345" as sugested, Up came "Version 6301-E-1". Can anyone help, is this a clone??.

Yikes, this is exasperating. I researched Welltech and discovered they were had an agency agreement with Daewoo. I tried the recommended hacks for their product, but to no avail. However I am a newbie at this so don`t take my word. The only other thing I noticed was that the setup and volume keys appeared to be the only fuctional ones after {Title} 1, 2, 3, 4, .
The Lidl and LS-electronics websites are no help
I would really like to get to the bottom of this one, any suggestions?

I purchased 1 of these & its a nic little machine. I wonder what generic platform it has to help with hack (Daewoo (IMO can`t find) phillips?).
On loading in a REGION 1 DVD & trying other DVD hacking methods & general hit & miss keystroke I did manage to open a SMART NAV1 menu with ROOT, JACKET-P, VIDEO-TS. Opening VIDEO-TS, folders appear DVD VIDEO-TS, DVD VTS-01-0, DVD VTS-01-1, VCD VTS-01-1/2/3 etc. On trying to play some of these & some more hit & miss keystokes I have managed to play a REGION 1 DVD TWICE with full control.
So it is possible to play other regions All I have to do now is methodically record what combinations reliably work.
Do any hack aces out there recognise the above menus on other DVD players to bring us nearer to permanent REGION HACK?

No idea of a hack, but I found the manual for it on the Ls-Electronic web site here:

http://www.ls-electronic.de/laender/british/images/faqpix/download/20654gb.zip

From the pictures in it, it looks similar to the menus on my Dansai, I wonder if any of those hacks would work??

It sounds like a good player for the money though, plays DVD, VCD, MP3, CDR, CD-RW etc, and a 3 year manufacturers warranty too (according to the manual).

Mark.

Wow!

I saw one of these in Lidle, looked it up here and then went back and bought one (£99). It`s great, and will be even better when someone comes up with a hack. The adaptor leads alone would cost £25 from Argos, the 12V PSU around £10, so you get a small 12V DVD player with full remote that does VCD, MP3, CDR, CD-RW etc for £65 with 3 year warranty, can`t be bad! You even get a remote IR extender in case you don`t have line of sight of the DVD player (in a cupboard/out of sight in the car). The display quality is faultless, every bit as good as my £200 Sanyo (Dare I say better?)
