Hack Help Forum
the NAIKO 2081 does everything out of the box, apart from macrovision.someone said that a daewoo player code opened the secret menu?.if this is true can anyone point me in the right direction,or does anyone know how to disable macrovision.i`ve tried the hack for the 2051,but it does not work.
Just to confirm that the 2051 hack does not seem to bring up the secret menu. I desperately need to find out how to turn macrovision off as I`ve bought my daughter a TV/video combi for Xmas, and I need this 2081 DVD player to work with it.
Incidentally, the normal picture from this player looks to be very good.
Ive got a simular problem to tony, bought this player as a Xmas gift and the TV its going on hasnt got scart so it will have to some how go through a video player. Did read on some other hack sites that the Daewoo hack would do the trick but it didnt ;-(
TYPICAL!
I found this in another Forum, all it does is display a hidden version number, but it might give someone a clue to take it further.
Start with no disc in player
Switch on
Press `Setup`
highlight EXIT SETUP but don`t exit it.
type in 1 3 6 9 on the keypad
press left arrow three times
press right arrow once.
a new item appears on the menu called VERSION
press enter and mine gives this message
00 0B 08 06
00 00 00 01
This technique also works with the AD1200 player, so I believe the Naiko is a hybrid of the AD1200 but with an enhanced firmware.
I tried the 8 4 5 1 region free trick with my player but it did not work.
RE: NAIKO 2081 macrovision
Macrovision:-
Bought this machine from Safeways Sat 14 Dec, Test played region 1 & region 1 RCE and re writable dvd on the machine straight from the box. (The latter won`t work on my more expensive Aiwa).
Also tested with a fairly old JVC Stereo VCR with no apparent sign of image deterioration either on viewing or from recording. I am no expert on Macrovision and it may be a case where it`s less effective on older VCR but its worth trying assuming you havn`t already.
Apologies if this is not the case with others but I can assure you all it works in this case.
Ive tryed my naiko through an old VHS vid and sure enough macro was present, this is the problem if you aint lucky enough to have scart and have to run it via a vid thats where the problems start ;-(
It might very well be a case that we are all p*ssing in the wind what with this new law with macro and dvd players!
