I`ve got the same problem, but there is hope. I rang the tech support number on the box yesterday and they are sending me a cd with the fix. I haven`t got it yet but try ringing 0870 013 0020 to get a copy.

Not quite on the same topic but I am looking into buying this machine. I see a multi region hack is mentioned, where abouts do you enter this code? Also, what is the problem you are having with with playing svcd and vcd`s? Does it only play originals or something?

Just to let you know - the CD arrived over the weekend and my player now plays vcd`s. Pat on the back for Mico!

Did you also manage to get the hack for playing svcd/vcd`s. If so from where??

My Sofia 02a was multi region straight out of the box. Have you actually tried playing any multi region discs yet?
As for playing SVCDs/VCDs - just ring up Mico and ask for the upgrade disc. They will either e-mail or snail mail the disc you need to upgrade.
