Page 1 of Philips DVDR880 Hack Problem - Help

I have tried the hack provided by this site (Philips 750) and cannot get this to work via the remote. I have tried all the available codes and none work. Now the only discs the machine will play are the DVD-RW`s. This will not play region 2 or 1 bought DVD`s. The firmware is 11h. I have downloaded the up to date firmware verion 12 but do not wish to install this until all other options have failed. I have not bought a one for all remote yet but wish to get the machine back to the original factory settings first. Can anyone help please

Are you using the remote supplied with the machine? You should be using a 4in1 remote.

Hi, I have now bought a 4in1 remote but the DVDR880 still will not become multi-region. It accepts all the codes, but when you power up the machine it wont play any disc other than a DVD-RW. Any other clues would be appreciated or how to reset to factory condition (have tried steps in the manual although they do not reset the DVD player to region 2. Thanks for getting back to me before.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM TODAY ON MY DVDR880 NOT PLAYING ANYTHING AT ALL . IT WAS SUGGESTED TO TRY MAGIC 085 WITH NO DISC IN, GETTING 9 DOTS ON DVD SCREEN, ENTERING 121 212 005 002 PLAY, DON`T SWITCH OFF BUT PUT IN REGION 2 DISC CLOSE TRAY. REGION 2 NOW PLAYS AGAIN. EJECT DISC AND CLOSE TRAY SAYS NO DISC. PRESS MAGIC 085, 9 DOTS ON DVD ENTER 121 212 005 255 PLAY, DONT SWITCH OFF I INSERTED REGION 3 DISC (BUT YOU COULD INSERT REGION 1) CLOSE TRAY AND IT SHOULD BE MULTI REGION. ok mine too had the same problem of only just playing dvdr`s and dvdr!!it refused to play regular dvd discs regardless of which region!!
i sent it back to philips and it took them 3 weeks to repair it! i asked them what was wrong and they told me they had to change the (BASIC ENGINE). i guess that must be the i/c or the motherboard! anyway the firmware has been upgraded by philips to ff12g, and everything is working fine.region-free is working but i have never tried the MACROVISION thing.
oh yes, i sent my player to the singapore philips service centre.

how can i activate it

i can only operate from the front panel,how can i activate the remote back?
