find on other forum:

This works 100% as tested on my player.

The SD-42hk is a LG 5000 clone.

Go to this site http://members.tripod.com/aiwaownersnetwork/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html

And download the zip file.
Extract the zip and burn the file onto a CD.
Load the CD into the player and select region 0
Switch off and back on.

I have download the data onto the disk loaded it on my dvd everythings ok but my movies are playing black and white. Why is this?

Could this be the problem:
You need to change the setup on your player. Press Setup then go to the picture column and change it from PAL to Auto. If it still comes out black and white it is because your TV is too old and is not NTSC compatible - you`ll have to invest in a new TV. If you look on the back of the DVD it will have the NTSC symbol your region 2 disks will have the PAL symbol.

Did you get any joy with the black and white problem? I am thinking of going muli region but dont want black and white movies!!
