No,

Nothing happens.

I assume that

a) you turn the player on.
b) there is no disk in the player
b) press play
c) press 1 5 9

Then you should get the `------` at which point you key in the rest ?

If I do this all I get is

No disc
X - on screen denoting incorrect key pressed
X - "
X - "

and nothing further..

What did you see / get.

Thanks in advance.

here is example I foun on some other web site (provided by 27sujeskelA[at]moc.oohay)
Quote: " I have Philips LX7000SA DVD locked to region to 2.
I made it all region free by entering code from remote control..
follow step by step:
1.NO disc in the tray
2.power on dvd, connect to tv.
3.Press(on the remote controle)
PLAY 1 5 9 7 2 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY
NOTE. be accurate by entering code, don`t mess up,and remember then you start entering code nothing change, no dashes appears, you need to enter that code in blind, but then you finish with code after 7 second it look like DVD made "restart"
that means you have done everything CORRECT
.....if something start working wrong you can return to previuos version by pressing
PLAY 1 5 9 2 2 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY for region 2
PLAY 1 5 9 1 1 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY for region 1

RESET command - P L A Y 1 5 9 P L A Y

here is some aditional informations from neretslivnav.h[at]ln.ollehc
Well the service manager spoke to the Philips Tech line this morning and they said that
as it has only just been released their service manual didn`t have the details in it.
But Looking at the P Number you might have solved the problem.

I`ll run through what the manual says.

The region code is broken into different sections

First number is the region code eg 1 = Region 1 ,2 = Region 2 etc

Second number is the TV system where 1= NTSC ,2=PAL ,and 3 =AUTO

Third is the Menu/Audio Subtitle Language.

The next three are the `AFS` number that tells the MPEG board what model it`s fitted in

001 = LX3000D/LX3500
002 = MX3600D/MX3800

Last two is the OEM derivative where Philips = 08

Going by this and the `P` Number try 221 003 08 for Region 2 and 111 003 08 for region 1.
or 221 030 08 / 111 030 08.

But check that the Play 159 Play resets the counter before the starts to climb too high.

My player is the Philips LX8000SA. Set as R3, but dunno if already region-free. Had trouble with some discs("Catch Me If You Can", and "The Transporter") and thought this hack will solve it.

I have tried this hacked and the player was busted.
Multi-channel and component video out(progressive) were gone.
(ed- Multi-channel restored using P15972103008P hack, but still no progressive out.)

Can these features be restored using another hack?
Or, is the service center the only way out?
