Listen. I just hacked a Sony DVD player (S725D) but it had some catches. There was no special features or menus. Instead, you get the film (WOOHOO!) and a blue bord across the screen (WHO CARES?!). I demand full credit for my hack!

1. Turn the player ON.
2. Press Eject/Open on your player.
3. Put in a region 1 disc, but don`t do anything else!
4. Now comes the tricky part: Press repeatedly and as fast as you can on the PLAY button on your DVD player. Just keep pressing!!!!
5. Keep pressing and the film WILL start!
6. I demand full credit for this hack!
7. I will be online on this page for answering questions, now that I`ve unleashed the partially hack for a Sony DVD player!
8. Give some respond to this hack

Just wondering what version of firmware is in your 725....

Well it doesn`t work on my 336. Also I remember this hack from a thread I read last summer for the x25 Sony series. I tried it on a 325 then and it didn`t work either. Is this a try on?

YES this hack works! And it doesn`t matter what firmware is in your DVD player. I`ve tried it on three different DVD players, and they all worked. You just need a little bit of finger-practise, `cause it is hard to get it right. Keep trying, and keep responsing and give the hack away. Cause this will be THE hack of 2001. KEEP HACKING =:-)

I am new to, please could you tell me what the blue bord across the screen is? does it affect the viewing of the film?

I have just purchased a SONY DVP-S300 (about a week old). I was just considering sending it to be modified as I was sent two region 1 movies Gladiator and Three Kings from the USA.
I logged on to DVD Reviewer today and noticed this posting, and immediately tried the hack. It worked first time I am currently watching Three Kings whilst I type this post with the following quote across the top "Playing this disc prohibited by area limits."
The only other phenomenons were that the screen saver kicked in whilst the move was playing, but when I pressed a button on the remote it went off, and the remote/player navigation functions don`t seem to be available.
Suffice to say I can confirm that this partial hack but with a loss of some player functionality.

WELL DONE!!! now can you find a hack for my Sony S536D. I would try your hack but I haven`t as yet bought any region 1 films (no point if I can`t play them)

It is actually the same model id. I`ve tried in on several different players, and it has always worked great. No problems! Do you have some problems on this hack? It is actually very easy and saves you a lot of cash, although several functions disappear ;(
