Page 1 of RCE does the disk swap hack work?

If i get a JVC player hacked to be multi region albeit automatic will it still play RCE disks
Ive heard that the patriot & future disks will be RCE coded & that if you have a auto select hack it wont work?

ive heard about the put in a non RCE region 1 disk first play it for a bit and then eject & put in the RCE disk as the machine is already selected for region one it supposedly works???

Please can any of you guys confirm if this is true as i dont want to fork out £40 on getting the software in my player upgraded only to find out future disks wont play.

"Hollow Man is the third disc to include the RCE program designed to prevent discs from one region being played on machines in another. The others are Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000) and The Patriot (2000), all released by Columbia Tri-Star.

Warner Brothers were also reported as having been on board with the RCE scheme. But according to a source at one of the big e-retailers in the US, Warners were closely monitoring online reaction amongst the various DVD websites when The Patriot was released last October. As it quickly became apparent that most DVD players could easily bypass RCE, Warners pulled their support leaving poor old Columbia Tri-Star to go it alone. Now we stress that this is just rumour but it is interesting in light of the fact that Warners has released no RCE-encoded titles to date. "

Cheers geordieboy interesting reading. so does that meen that i can play rce disks by using my suggestion?

The hack works on my jvc515gd dvd player.I played pitch black region1 for two minutes then pressed eject and put in patriot region1rce and it played.THANKS FOR THE HACK.

My machine is a Sony DAVS300, which is Multi Region. How do I know whether a RCE disk will work? Is it just a case of taking a chance?

Put the DAVS300 into standby ... press clear,title,power on the remote insequence .. you will now enter service mode ... goto version info ... see if your player says R1 or R2 .... if it says R1 then you will have no problems ...

this is all from memory so If I`ve got anything wrong then sorry ...

Can`t seem to get this to work. How do u mean standby? As in the player is off, just with the red light on? I`ve tried what I thought you meant, but I can`t get on to the service mode.
